A Bad Case of Stripes, by David Shannon, is a story about a young girl named Camilla Cream, who loves lima beans. The Illustrations that went with this part were so funny and the concept of it was silly to me that it made me laugh. Then when the kids in Camilla’s class started shouting out different patterns and she was changing into those patterns I caught my self chuckling out loud. It was so random but at the same time it exposed a good theme/message. Also when I found that she got stripes because she didn’t eat lima beans I laughed. This use of exaggeration was used throughout the whole story so it kept me interested and made me laugh. From the first page, the use of exaggeration was humorous and was incorporated into the illustrations as well. It was illustrated very well and it was funny that she was covered in stripes, so I wanted to read to find out why. The cover of this book is what caught my eye at first.
